Research Yields New Clues to Improving Treatment of Acute Rhinosinusitis
KARLSRUHE, Germany, 4 December 2009. One of the most common infections of the upper respiratory tract is acute rhinosinusitis (ARS). In the US alone medical expenditure exceeds 3 billion USD for this condition, which is still most commonly treated with antibiotics despite many reminders of their limited suitability in this area. Now a new clinical study conducted with the Pelargonium sidoides extract EPs® 7630 (Umckaloabo®) has shown that this herbal medicine is a safe and effective treatment of acute rhinosinusitis of presumably bacterial origin.

Schwabe invests 10 Mio USD in North American business
GREEN BAY, Wis., 22 October 2009. At a press conference with Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle, Schwabe North America, Inc. announced an over 10 million US dollar expansion and consolidation of several of its operations into its Green Bay facility. In addition to extensively remodeling and upgrading the existing Labs, Product Development, Quality Control and Manufacturing divisions, a new 100,000 square foot distribution center is being completed. Scheduled to commence operations on December 1, 2009, it will distribute all the company’s brands including Nature’s Way®, Boericke & Tafel, Enzymatic Therapy, Integrative Therapeutics™ and PhytoPharmica®.

KARLSRUHE, Germany, 22 April 2009. Dr. Willmar Schwabe Pharmaceuticals today announced the acquisition of the privately held Dr. Peithner Holding GmbH, Vienna, Austria. With this acquisition, Schwabe will expand its presence in Austria and Central & Eastern Europe (CEE).
