KARLSRUHE, Germany, 30 July 2008. A recent report by the internationally renowned, independent Cochrane Collaboration adds further weight to the growing international popularity of standardized Pelargonium sidoides extract EPs® 7630 (Umckaloabo®) in the treatment of acute respiratory tract infections such as acute bronchitis and the common cold. Analyzing 8 randomized, double-blind, clinical studies, the researchers found that EPs® 7630 “may be effective in relieving symptoms in acute bronchitis in adults and children” and that it “may (also) be effective in alleviating symptoms of acute rhinosinusitis and the common cold in adults”.

A report by the internationally renowned Cochrane Collaboration adds weight to the use of standardized Hawthorn extract WS® 1442 in the treatment of chronic heart failure. 10 double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical studies provided suitable data for meta-analysis on the effect of Hawthorn on heart failure symptoms and the function of the heart. The researchers found that the "results suggest that there is a significant benefit in symptom control and physiologic outcomes from hawthorn extract as an adjunctive treatment for chronic heart failure."
KARLSRUHE, Germany, 31 January 2007. A large placebo-controlled study has demonstrated the efficacy of EGb 761® in typical dementia patients.
